We're bringing the phenomenally successful CJiX 2010 to Johannesburg!
South Africa's first online recruitment conference took place on 11 & 12 February 2010 in Cape Town. It gave delegates tangible examples of how Corporates and Recruiters can stay competitive through comprehensive action plans for the future and by focusing on new technologies.
The background of the two-day forum discussion was the powerful advances in IT, communications and new innovative applications increasingly affecting the Recruitment industry. The seven sessions covered an Economic Outlook, Current Opportunities, Innovative Technology, Influences on Recruitment and also a Guide to Future Recruitment, delivered by specialist speakers to their respective fields.
Amongst others, those sharing insights were renowned Scenario Strategist & Author, Clem Sunter; Head of Google South Africa, Stephen Newton; Deputy Shadow Minister of Labour from the Democratic Alliance, Ian Ollis; GM from Internet Solutions, Brian Pinnock; CEO of CYCAN, Bryan Hattingh; and Mike Taylor who flew out from the UK to speak at the conference, representing Web Based Recruitment.
Some important details which were uncovered are:
An analysis shows that in fact, broadband costs have reduced annually and will continue to reduce by approx 12% per annum.
An outright ban on labour brokers is highly unlikely but the law must change as it currently does not meet international requirements.
Search Engine Optimisation is a very important business tool - it must be part of your plan and be measured.
It is possible to determine with fair certainty when an employee will leave an organisation.
A prediction in the ‘death' of generalist recruitment agencies
10% of SA small businesses are online and rapidly increasing
Thus, as any aspiring business in SA – to ignore mobile or online platforms are done so at your own peril!
